Managing Risk when taking the Public Cloud Route OR Managing Risk The secret to a pleasant and successful experience in migrating to a Public Cloud Strategy for your enterprise is “minimizing risk while maximizing your return on investment (ROI) and reducing total cost of ownership (TCO)“. Sound familiar? Sounds like managing your retirement fund nest egg. In this article we will address few of the risk management guidelines and standard business practices to mitigate risk when going with a public Cloud Strategy or migrating your IT or business assets to the Cloud. Leveraging a Virtualized Data Center to Improve Business Agility – Part 1 Everyone knows that the age of cloud computing is here. The bigger question, on which even the greatest minds of technology revolution can’t agree, is what the impact will be and how best to apply this approach to computing resources and business optimization. Many enterprises looking for the benefits of public cloud-style scaling are deterred by increasingly complex compliance and regulatory requirements. Morphlabs has origins in open source disruption and has been working with cloud computing technology for the past five years. And, during our own evolution, we
What are the barriers to cloud computing? The top issue overall was a perceived lack of security and service level agreements (SLAs), with 45% of respondents referring to it. Lock-in to a specific infrastructure vendor was revealed to be the second biggest barrier (cited by 40% of respondents) — and a bigger issue for small companies than concerns about security and SLAs. Regulatory concerns were ranked number three, with 39%. Enterprise Cloud Computing and The Services Led Organization Charge! That’s the rallying cry not of your IT on the way to the Cloud, but your business units as they use their corporate American Express (AMEX) cards to buy Cloud services. For example, Amazon’s availability SLA is around the network connectivity for an entire availability zone. So if you have a single instance that can access the internet (whether or not your app will run on it), there is no violation. This is hardly a new state of affairs and there doesn’t seem to be much change coming
The Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) has completed a public consultation on a draft UK code of practice for providers of cloud-based services published in April. The code of practice is aimed at setting up a clear, professional and trustworthy approach to the delivery of cloud services. More than 200 organisations have reviewed the draft code, which the CIF plans to use as a framework to standardise and certify cloud service providers. The code has been part of the CIF’s mission since its inception in 2009 for promoting trust, security and transparency within the cloud computing services industry. Feedback from the
