Announcing Live Streaming for Amazon CloudFront Using Amazon CloudFront with Amazon EC2 running Adobe’s Flash® Media Server and Amazon Route 53 (AWS’s DNS service), you can now easily and cost-effectively deliver your live video via AWS. And, we’ve made it simple to get started by creating an AWS CloudFormation template that handles all of the provisioning and sequencing for all the AWS resources you need for this live streaming stack. You only pay for the AWS resources you consume, and you have full control over your live streaming origin server (Adobe’s Flash Media Server running on Amazon EC2) — so
The $7 Billion Dollar Cloud Mystery I feel like I’m playing a game of Clue all by myself (it wouldn’t be the first time). No one seems to have questioned IBM’s $7 Billion dollar 2015 target on Cloud computing. It was just swallowed up in the news as if it were written on stone tablets and delivered by Moses himself. Well, I have a confession to make. The figure is a mystery – at least to me. Ever since IBM announced its $7 Billion dollar 2015 Cloud forecast I’ve been thinking about it. The figure strikes me as being very conservative
UNLEASHING CLOUD PERFORMANCE Introduction: The reality of cloud services Thirty-five percent. By 2014, analysts believe that thirty-five percent, or over one-third, of global enterprise IT budgets will be spent on cloud services. While today the percentage of organizations investing in these types of offerings is small, the implication is clear: “the cloud” is not another industry buzz word, but a broad category which will drive the next phase of IT projects. For IT and business managers already inundated with information about the promise of a cloud centric infrastructure the question is not whether or not to use the cloud, but

Cloud Based Service Level Agreements A common theme in the chatter about cloud computing is the need for SLAs around performance and availability. These SLAs simply don’t exist or are specified in a way that makes them look like they’ll never be violated. For example, Amazon’s availability SLA is around the network connectivity for an entire availability zone. So if you have a single instance that can access the internet (whether or not your app will run on it), there is no violation. This is hardly a new state of affairs and there doesn’t seem to be much change coming
